How the Application Process Works

At The Square, we are focused on creating a vibrant mix of businesses that bring something unique to our community. Rather than offering spaces on a simple first come, first served basis, we carefully review each application to ensure the best fit for both your business and The Square.

Step 1: Submit your application

Complete the application form and upload a short business proposal outlining your concept and what you're looking for at The Square.


Your proposal should include:

  • What type of business you'd like to establish at The Square.

  • The amount of space you think you'll need.

  • Your anticipated annual rental budget, so we can identify opportunities that may be a good fit.

  • What makes your business unique, including your products, services, customer experience, fit-out ideas, or anything else you'd like to share.

  • Why you believe your business would be a great addition to The Square and the wider Kerikeri community.

The more information you can provide, the better we'll be able to understand your business and explore how The Square could work for you.


No formal business plan? No problem.

We understand every business is different. If you don't have a formal business proposal, you're welcome to submit any supporting information that helps tell your story, such as a business overview, presentation, concept notes, photos, a website, social media pages, or even a simple document outlining your idea.


We're more interested in understanding your vision than receiving a perfectly formatted proposal.

Business Boost Support Program

If you would like to be considered for the Business Boost Support Programme, please provide additional information alongside your application.

 

In addition to the information requested in Step 1, please attach a detailed business plan that outlines your business concept, financial forecasts, and growth objectives.

 

Your business plan may include:

 

  • An overview of your business and its vision.

  • Information about your products or services.

  • Market and competitor analysis.

  • Sales and financial projections.

  • Details of your proposed fit-out and start-up costs.

  • Any support you are seeking from The Square and how it would help your business succeed.

 

We understand that every business is different, so if you do not have a formal business plan, you are welcome to submit other supporting documents that clearly explain your concept, goals, and financial requirements.

 

Based on the information provided, we will review your application and, where appropriate, prepare a tailored support proposal that may include rental assistance, fit-out contributions, or other forms of start-up support.

Please upload your business plan for the Business Boost Support Program. Refer to the requirements above and include all requested details. We prefer receiving one combined PDF document whenever possible.

Business Boost Support Programme

We welcome passionate and enthusiastic business owners, from experienced operators to first-time entrepreneurs with a great idea and the determination to make it succeed.
We understand that one of the biggest challenges when starting a business is getting off the ground. Costs such as rent, fit-out expenses, equipment, and other start-up investments can place significant pressure on a new venture.
That's why we created the Business Boost Support Programme.


If you have a strong business concept and a well-prepared business plan, we may be able to offer financial support to help you establish your business at The Square.
Support may include:

  • Rental assistance or discounted rent during the start-up phase.

  • Contributions towards fit-out costs.

  • Other customised support options tailored to your business needs.

Simply submit a detailed business plan as part of your application. We will review your proposal and, where appropriate, develop a personalised support package designed to give your business the best possible start.
